The OECD Nuclear
Energy Agency (NEA) and
the EASI-SMR
project are organising an International
Workshop on Passive Systems Performance and Reliability in Paris from 30 March to 1 April 2026.
This specialised event will address critical challenges related to passive safety systems in
advanced reactors, including SMRs. Despite their widespread use, consensus is lacking regarding
modelling approaches, reliability assessment, and crediting methods in safety analyses.
Workshop Aims
- Facilitate exchange between experimentalists, code developers, and safety analysts
- Address modelling challenges and acceptance criteria
- Identify knowledge gaps from thermal-hydraulic and probabilistic perspectives
Event Details
- Dates: 30 March - 1 April 2026
- Location: Paris Japan Cultural Center, France
- Registration: Free of charge
- Language: English only
Key Deadlines
- Abstract submission: 3 November 2025
- Registration deadline: 30 January 2026
The workshop is organised under the auspices of the NEA Committee on the Safety of Nuclear Installations, building on the 2024 NEA Status Report on Reliability of Thermal-Hydraulic Passive Systems.
